GIMM

Girls In Math Modeling

Redefining the boundaries of applied mathematics through the lens of female innovation. Bridging the gap between curiosity and mastery through transparent, collaborative, and inclusive math modeling workshops.

ABOUT  US

Girls in Math Modeling (GMM) is a student-led educational initiative that introduces female students aged 12–18 to mathematical modeling in a clear and accessible way. Founded by students at the Princeton International School of Mathematics and Science (PRISMS), GMM connects mathematical theory with real-world applications.

Through hands-on workshops, skill-focused sessions, and collaborative challenges, we encourage students to move beyond memorization and engage in genuine problem-solving. Our goal is to help young women build practical analytical skills and apply mathematics to real global questions. GMM aims to foster a supportive community where mathematical rigor meets meaningful application.

Our Goal

Our journey began with a shared observation: the current landscape of math modeling competitions is often clouded by a "black box" of non-transparent scoring and the pervasive influence of external mentors, which can stifle genuine student creativity and discourage passionate beginners. We saw too many brilliant girls relegated to "report writing" roles rather than engaging with the core mathematical architecture.

Our goal is to change the narrative. We are building a sanctuary for authentic learning where transparency is the gold standard. By shifting the focus from "winning at all costs" to "growing through feedback," GMM provides a level playing field. We aim to dismantle the barriers to entry, ensuring that every participant can master the core principles of modeling, gain confidence in their technical voice, and see themselves as the architects of tomorrow’s solutions.

UPCOMING EVENT

Workshop 03: Evaluation Models & Theoretical Frameworks

Date & Time: April 1st | 6:00 PM – 8:30 PM EST

Focus: How do we measure the intangible? In this session, we dive into the basic evaluation models. From understanding the core logic of multi-criteria decision-making to mastering the theoretical foundations of ranking and scoring systems.

Workshop 04: Foundations of Predictive Modeling

Date & Time: May 2nd | 8:00 PM EST

Focus: Predictive modeling is the bridge between historical data and future possibilities. This workshop explores the fundamental theories of prediction, focusing on how to identify patterns, handle variables, and build models that forecast trends with precision.
